Caving and Bridge Abseil

Explore a dry Lead Mine in the Peak District followed by an abseil off a viaduct.

This is a perfect family activity, minimum age around 7 years old. (reasonable level of fitness). Under 18’s will need to be accompanied by a parent or legally appointed guardian and take part in the activities.  This is a self drive adventure day so you will require your own vehicle for the whole day.

Meeting for 0830 hrs at Matlock Bath, get kitted up and a short walk to the Lead Mine.

Nice, warm and dry inside so perfect on a cold day.

Learn a little about the geology and mining techniques used by the miners in the 1800’s. All done with just illumination from a candle. Stacks of ‘Deads’, pick axe marks, stemples, calcite, flowstone, stalactites, limestone, bedding, up lift.

Then a drive over to Miller’s Dale Station car park for lunch then onto the Monsal Trail for the Bridge Abseil. Cafe and toilets at this location.

A 75 ft abseil over the River Wye with glorious views of the valley below.

Look at the calthemites hanging below the arches of the bridge derived from concrete, lime, mortar or other calcareous material outside the cave environment.

Cost is £25 per person for the 2 activities on an Open Course minimum of 4 people. (private bookings are also available).

Photo’s of the activities can be seen on my face book work page Truth & Trust Adventure or Instagram malc.adventure.
